League of Legends : Too much Gank! D:

So I've been playing a lot more LoL lately, and its come to my attention that I suck a fair amount at it. I've found a few characters that really REALLY don't sit well with me at all, Vladimir being one of them. I cant seem to get the hang of him, and because of this my KD, CS and generally player style have suffered greatly. I'll give him a miss for now i think.

Zilean is another champion I've tried recently, and he is quite fun, a mix between Damage and Support, and I love his Time Bomb ability so very much. I've killed a lot of runners with it, but again, he just isn't my character. I'm sure he's really good when in the right hands (as is every champion) but i seem to suck with him too. Also, Chrono Shift is awesome.

Leona remains my champion of choice for now, seeing as i don't suck as bad with her, but she is currently free to play at the moment, and a lot of people seem to want to try her out, so I've gone back to playing as Ezreal, and rediscovered my love for him. He's so much fun to play and learn, as all of his abilities are Skillshots, where you have to manually aim them, and if it misses, well tough. But he can become so very powerful if played correctly, and has a neat little flash added onto his Arcane Shift ability which is helpful in a bind.

Ezreal also has some brilliant skins, as you can see in the above artwork (which is my current background for my laptop <3) but i cant help but think that the Chinese Artwork for nearly every character is better than the Western Artwork. It's just my opinion, and it's definitely the case with Ezreal in my eyes.

I seem to get Ganked slightly less often when playing with friends, specifically Tattikat (check out her Deviant Art Page, her artwork is fantastic) who plays often as Rammus and Amumu, both of which are really great teammates for me and I die a lot less because of her. Amumu especially seems like a fantastic character, and one i would like to try out in the future, because I've heard he is great at Jungling, a concept I've been looking into recently.

The Free Champion Rotation this week includes the following champions:

Katarina
Nunu
Sion
Teemo
Veigar
Zilean
Shen
Malzahar
Urgot
Leona

So I'll continue to play and improve as Ezreal for now, and HOPEFULLY get better at some point in time. If you guys ever want to play a few games and experience the full extent of my fail, you can find me on LoL as GrimFlux. If you want to give the game a go, you can either go to the Official Website (EU/NA) or sign up via my referral link here if you feel kind :D

Minecraft : New Mob in the works

Ok, so I may have slacked a little in this, but nevertheless, here is a screenshot and some info on the New Minecraft mob in the works, named, at least at the moment, the 'Enderman'. Looks like he steals blocks, and god knows if that counts ones such as the side of your house, or a chest... That would suck!

At any rate, these guys are creepier than Creepers in my opinion, and might even be in the new Patch... as for the release date of said patch, it still has not been announced.

Find out more about the Endermen here, and find Notch's Google+ Post here, where it was announced yesterday.

The Humble Indie Bundle

This is a great idea in my opinion, as you can get 5 games (that would normally cost around £30-£40 if bought otherwise) for whatever price you chose, AND you can choose how that money is distributed, so you can give it all to charity if you want to, or give half to the developers and half to the Humble Bundle team. The charities participating are EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) and Child's Play, both of which are really good causes in my opinion.

You can get the 5 following fantastic Indie games for the low price of whatever you like!

Crayon Physics Deluxe
Cogs
VVVVVV
Hammerfight
And Yet It Moves

You can find out more here.

Chantelise: A Tale of Two Sisters - First Impressions

Chantelise is a game that has had me interested for quite some time, after I heard about it's translation and eventual release some months ago. It's made by Carpe Fulgur and EasyGameStation, the same people that made Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, and that immediately got my excited, seeing as that game is perhaps one of my favorite RPGs in the recent years. When i heard that the demo was available on Steam i jumped at the chance, downloading it immediately. Here are my thoughts on the first half an hour or so (seeing as its only a demo, i don't want to get too into it).

So the initial interface remains the same, same font, same options layout. I love the art style of these games, especially all  of the hand drawn characters and backdrops. The game starts with a little backstory, and unlike the story in Recettear, this one seems to be fairly coherent. (come on, trying to pay off a fathers debt being the objective? Not exactly canon :P) There was an old story about how, on a red moon night, a witch would come out and curse anybody outside, and it turned out to be true, and from what I gather, the objective of this story is to find the witch and reverse the curse that your sister is inflicted with (she was turned into a Fairy). So to that end, you're adventuring from town to town seeking information about the witch and where to find her, and that's where we join the story.

After the backstory, you get thrown right into the tutorial, which is pretty simple, and you can redo it when you please if you forget anything. One of the first things I notice is how awkward the camera is. you press 'V' to lock onto an enemy, and hold it to unlock, and the 'A' and 'S' keys rotate the camera either left or right. I'd imagine the game would be simpler to play on a Gamepad, but i don't have one around at the moment.

The combat in the game is fairly fun and simple, but very fast paced. You have your normal attack and combo, and a jumping attack, a dodge and magic. The magic system in this game works from picking up gems and combining them (at the start, only 2 gems can be used at once) and then unleashing them as spells.

You can also combine two different coloured gems, but I think all that does is use one right after another. You get gems  from hitting and killing enemies, and scenery such as trees and grass patches, barrels and other things. The magic seems initially very powerful, but you have to aim it right by locking onto enemies, which I kept forgetting. To move on from an area you have to clear all of the enemies in that area, but only once, which is good because I quickly found out that it is really quite easy to die in this game, but all that does is return you to town with items intact, which aids to the game because you don't have to keep failing at one part, you can upgrade whilst you're back at town and go back to kick some ass.

Items increase in price as you buy them, and decrease as you sell them, which adds a nice feel, like its almost a real economy, and if I'm honest, I don't actually know if it -is-, having only played the demo. Upgrading your equipment in this game really is essential. I bought a set of Leather Gloves and a shield to put in my equipment slots (you start with 2, but I believe you get more) and straight away noticed that my attack damage was doubled and the damage I was taking was halved. I also gained 20 more health, which made a huge difference as a few of the enemies were able to take my measly 30 health away from me in mere seconds.

The art is really awesome, I love the anime styling of it, and the voices are kept Japanese, but the text is in English, which makes it nice and different. The only thing I can say is that it does look a bit odd with hand drawn models on a computer graphics background, but I can live with that. We'll call it a mark toward uniqueness.

I hope that I will be able to bring you more on this game when it is fully released on July 29th on Steam, but for now this is pretty much all I have for you. Go check out the Demo on Steam, it promises to be a really fun and generally awesome game!

Chantelise : A Tale of Two Sisters on Steam!

Chantelise : A Tale of Two Sisters hits steam on the 29th of this month and i have to say I'm pretty Psyched. You can definitely expect a First Impressions when I get my hands on it. Chantelise comes from the makers of Recettear : An Item Shop's Tale, and that alone in my eyes makes it worth a play. Chantelise and Recettear were made by EasyGameStation and adapted and translated to English by Carpe Fulgur LLC.

Recettear was truly a unique game where you played a shopkeeper trying to pay off her fathers debts. This was aided by going into dungeons as other characters and gathering rare and valuable items to sell in your store. The game was very, VERY addictive to say the least, and I think that was aided by the uniqueness of the game as a whole.

Chantelise promises to be as good as its predecessor, and at the time of writing i am currently downloading the Demo that I did not realise was there. Silly me. I'll have a First Impressions later today.

Minecraft : The Troubles of Building a House

So, from my starting position I explored the surrounding area. I was in a large sand clearing surrounded by a forest. This was a pretty much perfect area to start in. I made my way to a nearby cliff side, butchering trees as I went, which is made easier by the Treecapitator Mod by DaftPVF, letting you chop at the base of a tree and harvest it all, and was greeted by this beautiful site.

You might notice several things. One, I have half the starting life you would normally have, this is due to a Mod called More Health by Nohero, which you can set preferences for, and find Heart Pieces and Heart Containers, like in Zelda. Eventually you can get double the normal maximum health, which is pretty cool. Second, you may note the Score in the top left, which is also pretty cool, and self explanatory, also by DaftPVF. Thirdly you might notice Sharks and Dolphins in the water, which are deadly and which you can tame respectively. These are part of Mo' Creatures by DrZhark.

So, after clearing the area next to my cliff side view, I put up a basic wood shack and set up a bed and crafting bench so I could have a base camp. It was getting dark, so I decided to call it a night and use the Somnia mod by MALfunction84, which allows you to sleep whenever, and wake up at any point, but also simulates the world while you do it, so you can smelt and grow crops.

In the morning, I awoke and went on a treck nearby, where I saw a cliff with some coal. When I got there, I found a little more than I bargained for. Big cats and birds were around, from Mo' Creatures by DrZhark and on the cliff side was some Iron, Randomite (by Scokeev9) and what looked like Verdite from Axebane's Mystic Ores and Stones, part of his fantastic Mystic Mod Pack. Also, this adorable little guy.

He's from the Baby Animals Mod by Cocoavalley, and you can raise and tame them :3

Anyway, after I cleared the ore from the cliff side, getting a stack of Coal, some Iron and some Gold from the Randomite, it was once again getting dark. So I made my way back to my humble abode to make some torches...and that's where it started to go wrong. After blocking up my house and accessing my crafting bench, I noticed light coming from where my bed was.... Odd, I thought, so I turned round.

OH CRAPPING HELL WHAT THE FU-

And then I exploded. Along with all of my stuff, and most of my house. After punching the Ogre to death (which took a while), I surveyed the damage (whilst beset by Creepers, Skeletons and a Werewolf) This was not good, I had very little of my house left, and very, very little possessions. And it was night-time. So, after defeating all of the enemies around me, I decided to call it a day. Who knows, Maybe tomorrow will hold better fortune?

Ogres and Werewolves are also part of the Mo' Creatures Mod by DrZhark, and all Mods mentioned are part of the Wonderful Yogbox (Which, at the time of writing) has JUST been updated to include Mod Updates and Elemental Creepers. Sounds fun, and Painful. Like paintballing, only with explosions and horrible death.

One last thing, I recently made a new Character Skin, and was wondering what you guys thought of it? It's my first attempt at a character skin, and I think it's not too shabby.

Terraria : MUNDO NOOOO!

My adventure in Terraria started out on a sunny morning near a cliff side and a forest, and I set out from the original spawn with high hopes.

The more destructive side of me kicked in immediately, and i quickly butchered all the nearby trees and gathered some stone nearby and made myself a Workbench and Bow, with some arrows and torches (I'm a huge fan of ranged weapons in this game) and set off tho the right of my spawn, and quickly came across some copper. Happy days! :D

i thought, seeing as it has a small cave underneath it, that this would be a good place to set up shop. I leveled the area a bit and got the pot from underneath my land and sealed it back up for now, it was getting dark and i needed shelter. So i made myself a basic wooden hut and was quickly joined by a fluffy little visitor. I named him Mundo. Why? Why not. So, soon it was night time, and i was beset by Zombies and Demon Eyes.

This situation seemed to frighten my little friend, my only companion in the world bar the Guide, who was nowhere to be seen. So i bravely opened the door to fend off the attackers, who promptly murdered me and Mundo.

I shed manly tears that night. The adventure will continue next time, i must make a grave and monument to my fallen friend.

Runespell: Overture - First Impressions

I've heard that Runespell: Overture can be compared to Puzzle Quest in the way that it's played, and that got me curious, so i Downloaded it from Steam, and here's my First Impressions. I have to say, i already like the art style of the game, that's a good sign.

After playing the first tutorials i can tell you this: this game is very unique. It uses a Poker/Solitaire system to deal damage to your opponent based on the Poker hands you create. You can also unlock Powercards, which you can equip for extra effects in battle, such as Blessing, which adds 25 to your maximum health. you can also have spells in battle that use Rage Points to activate, adding that little extra bit of strategy to the game.

You play as a Changeling with amnesia, and begin  to work your way through dirty northerners to find your lost memories. Along the way you meet a woman called Brin, who serves as a kind of Guide for the main story. There are also a number of side quests to complete, each will get you a number of Silver and potentially new Powercards.

I have to say i understand what people were saying about the combat system, it is VERY similar to Puzzle Quest, in that you form combinations to unleash powers and defeat your opponent in combat and earn silver and rewards. As far as I've played, there isn't any kind of level-up or stat system other than the HP/RP boosts you can get, which is a little disappointing, but then again i don't know exactly how that kind of system would work in a game like this, and would probably end up distorting the unique gameplay. In a way, silver helps you 'level up' because you can buy increasingly powerful Runespells to use in combat.

Runespell is a pretty cool game, and i can see it getting very addictive, its by a company called Mystic Box. Its currently available on steam for about $10, or £7.99. Go check it out.

League of Legends : Server Split

Hey all,

First of all, sorry about the late post, i was too busy playing LoL to Blog about it, what with the EU Server Split coming into effect and pretty much making logging in instant. This makes me happy, and Riot also gave out a free 15 Day 200% IP boost for all existing accounts to say thank you for sticking with them. This is a very good move on their part in my opinion, because they didn't NEED to give us anything at all, i think most of us would have been happy with just being able to log in whenever we please.

Recently I've been focusing on playing the new Champion, Leona, The Radiant Dawn and trying to get good with her. This leads me onto something I've noticed in my past couple of matches. PvP seems to actually be easier as a whole than PvAI. Though it may have been due to me being tired, i actually did far better against Players than i did AI, even against beginner AI i wasn't doing as well, as this screenshot shows. (Yes, i suck ass as Poppy, she really isn't my play style.)

So yeah, as you can see from the screenshot, i was AWESOME at one of those PvP matches, because i kept the pressure up and  harassed the enemy, keeping them on the back foot. I think it also helped that my lane-mate, who is not only a fantastic Morgana player, but a fantastic gamer in general, was kicking some serious ass, and the combination of  my Solar Flare, then Tormented Soil and Dark Binding from Morgana and then my combo of Eclipse then Zenith Blade and then finally a Shield of Daybreak from me, followed up by auto attacks and maybe even (if we're feeling particularly mean, a final Soul Shackles from Morgana) totally obliterated most enemy Champions.

Needless to say, I think that I've definitely found my Champion of Choice for the time being. Leona, if you build her right, is so hard to kill and can push out a lot of damage. I highly recommend giving her a go if you can.

Minecraft : Intro

No doubt that you've all heard of Minecraft. Hell, I'd assume you've been living under some kind of rock if you haven't, but then I'd wonder why you hadn't dug your way out with your bare hands, or a large lump of dirt or something.

It's hard to say precisely WHY Minecraft is so damned popular (It's current Registered users read at 10,688,964 at the time of writing, that's almost as many as World of Warcraft, and Minecraft is still in its Beta.) It's a game where you can do more or less anything you damn well please, and it's Modding community is amazingly large for what is essentially an Indie title, which adds to the play-ability even more. I'm not going to bore you with facts that you most probably already know, what I'm going to do instead is a fresh install of Minecraft, loaded with a Modpack and a Texturepack, and play a little for you guys.

I'm going to be using the absolutely FANTASTIC Mod Compilation The Yogbox. It contains a communities view on some of the very best Mods out there, including a couple of my personal favorites, Mystic Ores and More by Axebane and Mo' Creatures by DrZhark. All these mods add a new aspect to the game and enhance the whole experience, especially if (and all of the mods in the Yogbox are) the Mods are well made.

I'm also using a Custom Texturepack made using The Painterly Pack, it's a really awesome site where you can build and use your own Texturepack from their database. You can download the Official Fluxblog Texturepack here if you want to.

For now, a screenshot of the first thing i saw when i logged into my brand new world.

Beautiful. Well, tree-like, but nice.

Dungeons of Dredmor : First Impressions

I picked up a game called Dungeons of Dredmor from steam, because i heard its good, and I'm a fan of Rogue-like dungeon crawlers. So i booted it up to see what's what. I decided to actually do the tutorial for once, very un-manly i know, reading instructions, but its a rogue-like, and they tend to hurt. A lot. Much like this might (see screenshot below)

One of the first things i noticed about the game was its sense of humor. I noticed one instance where it was explaining resistances, and it says that fire resistance is particularly useful for witches, and that i should think about getting it in case I'm ever around a witch or other flammable substance. This was literally what it said in the tool tip. A very good sign. The controls are nice and simple, and it has selectable difficulty, which is always nice. Since I'm so awesome, I went right to 'Going Rogue, because losing is fun' and promptly got disemboweled by a very friendly group of Diggles. If you are a sadist there are ways of increasing the difficulty even more, such as a Perma-Death mode. You'll definitely need some 'Wizard Juices' as the game puts it, or Potions, or at Least some moldy Cheese or Steak.

As in any dungeon crawler, there is a lot of loot and stats to memorize and collect to help you to not die. At one point i found Three 'Uberchests' in one small area, which was cool because it got me searching the entire level for the way to open them.

The Game itself tells you that Winning is not the point, getting as far as you can and getting further in time is the point, and i kind of like that, it makes you learn from your mistakes and allows you to find skill combinations that work. As far as i can tell, the dungeons are randomly generated, which adds to the re-playability immensely.

If you go idle for a little while, like when i was writing this guide, your character gets a handheld console out and plays it while he waits, which is a cool little touch. The combat log can be hilarious too, with what i presume to be random area names, like 'The Rhombus Dungeon of Death' and 'The Triangle of Trousers'. And  when i examined a patch of dirt it apparently looked at me, Dirtily.

Some of the buff pictures are really quite amusing too, like Invisibility, where your character is pictured as a Ninja. Also, apparently its a very good idea to upgrade equipment, or i might be stuck with Wooden, or even Spaghetti weaponry. That's a scary thought, especially when everything that moves seems to want to tear out my innards and decorate their hovel with them.

Between reducing enemies to piles of Fluid and Flatulence, and chuckling at this games amazing sense of humor, i managed to upgrade a few of my weapons and then die horribly. Ah well, i can be sure that this game is one that i will spend hours on indeed. The System reminds me a little of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, in that your enemies don't act until you do, adding a nice level of strategy.

The graphics style is charming and retro, and aids the humor somewhat. Literally the only bad thing i can think about the game is that items don't show up on your character. No funky Fedora for me *sadface*

And son of a bitch! this 'Lil Batty' (i kid you not) just called me a 'Troll-Whoring Sheep-Buggerer!' How did this game know I'm Welsh? Crafty bastards.

There are 36 different skills to choose from at character creation, which is pretty awesome, as they change the way you play completely. They range from the usual, various weapon proficiencies, schools of magic and crafting too, and then there's archeology, which says that it gives you a Fedora and it makes you daring and roguish, which cant be bad. All in all, its a very nicely done and well rounded Indie title, made by Gaslamp Games, available on Steam now for around 7 Dollars, or £3.49. Go check it out, its definitely worth buying.

Also, this was quite terrifying. An example of what is known as a Monster Zoo. Dear God.

Terraria : Intro

Hey all.

Terraria is a Game that you have all probably heard of at some point. It's been called a 2-D Minecraft. both in respect of how it plays and how its exploded in success and fame. There's a reason for the Hype, as Terraria is so very well made and perhaps the most addictive thing since Minecraft. or Heroin.

Terraria is a game where you explore, fight monsters, and build to your hearts content. and trust me, there is a lot to do in this game. Oh, and it has Multiplayer too, which is cool. Now, at face value, Terraria could appear to some as Childish, simplistic and boring. But i find that this is really one of those games where you have to play it to truly understand how good it is. The game is packed with Features and things to do and explore, Wanna dig down in the Earth and find your fame and fortune? sure why not, and what you'll discover on the way are countless caverns, with treasure and dangers untold. perhaps you'll find a Heart Container in the deeps, and that will help you deal with the difficulty and combat in the game (which is very good, for a 2-D side-scrolling, Platforming Build-and-Kill-o-Rama) or perhaps you'll find a Bomb or some Dynamite, and then, if you have room in your fortress of power, a Demolitionist will move in to sell you more explosives. Wanna Blast your way into the earth for the hell of it? Why the hell not? And Speaking of Hell, maybe you'll reach it, and then cry like a little baby when you get decimated by the monsters there.

This is one of those games where you kinda have to find your own way to play, whether it be exploring the Skies or the ground (both of which have equal benefits) or collecting enough stone and whatnot to build a castle the keep monsters out.

Ill keep most of the details a mystery for now, as I've just gone and made a New Character, and a New World for him to dick around in and for me to relay my various misdoings and stuff.

So, you can expect various Screenshots and stories next week, and i hope you look forward to it as much as i do :D

You can pick up Terraria for around 10 Dollars or £5.99 on Steam, and i do recommend it. Updates are more or less on a weekly or monthly basis, and they are generally huge and very, very well done. Support Re-Logic, the developers, as much as possible! you won't regret doing so.

League of Legends : Intro

Hey all, so recently I've started to play a Free-to-Play Game called League of legends. Its gameplay is based on DotA from Warcraft 3, and while I've never played DotA before, i instantly liked this game. There are nearly 80 different characters to choose from, and each is unique and different to play. Basically, you start off at your teams base (Nexus) and there are a few paths to the enemy Nexus, guarded by turrets. Your objective is to get to the enemy Nexus and destroy it, whilst defending your own Nexus from the enemy team who is attempting to do the same thing. Teams consist of either 5 or 3 Champions on either side (a Champion being a Player Character) and a host of Minions (Little monsters) that spawn constantly from each base. These minions will follow set paths (Lanes) that take them along the path of the turrets and into the enemy base, and help you by, well, they're actually more useful as meat shields than anything, but they are still useful.

And then there's 'The Jungle'. The Jungle is pretty much anywhere on the map that is not a lane or a base. Neutral monsters spawn in little camps around the Jungle, denoted by Skulls on the Minimap. These creatures will yield EXP and Gold when they're killed, much like Minions and Champions, but can also grant your character temporary buffs to tip the scales in their favour.

So, the objective is simple. Gank the enemy team more than they gank you (Because re-spawn times in this game are harsh, and knocking an enemy out for 60 seconds is vital in pushing into the enemies base. But what i love about this game is how versatile the characters can be, there are many different 'Builds' to each character, and it all depends on what items you decide to buy in game, So you can stack different stats like Health and Mana Regeneration etc. to make your character your own. Outside of combat, there's a Store (Where, through Micro-Transactions, you can purchase extra Characters, Skins, and Boosts for your character, and Runes, which you can use to give yourself a starting Edge and add that personal touch to your character. There are also Masteries, which are essentially Talent Trees, which you can again use to set yourself apart from the flock.

Now, i regularly play LoL as a variety of different characters, in case you're interested:

Kayle, The Judicator - I love me some angels, and her Battleborn Skin makes her look like a Valkyrie. She's a really good support character

Ezreal, The Prodigal Explorer - The Frosted Skin looks cool, and  he is really fun to play. All of his attacks have to manually aimed, which means he needs Skill to play well, and that to me is really cool/

Ashe, The Frost Archer - I love Ice and Archers, so this ones a Given, plus she too has an awesome  Nordic Skin <3

Leona, The Radiant Dawn - Just bought her today, shes a new character, but looks awesome and is very fun, also she has a Valkyrie skin too, and that's just cool

Malphite, Shard of the Monolith - Again, looks cool and is VERY fun to play as, and he's a great PvP Character

Tristana, The Megling Gunner - I haven't played her, but I've heard shes good fun. I got her free from Facebook. Just follow them on Facebook, and you get her and a Skin for her.

Veigar, The Tiny Master of Evil - So much fun to play as, and Kick ass to boot. Also you can get a Gandalf Skin for him, what's not to love?

My main 3 Characters at the moment are Ezreal, Malphite and Leona, and im having alot of fun with the game as a whole. the only drawbacks for me at the moment are a lack of varied maps and the fact that Log in times can sometimes be a bit unreasonable. But hey, theyre adding some new servers soon, and probably more maps, because as i understand its a fairly new game (at least to the EU).

So, more news as and when i get it, and some playthrough talk and other stuff to come.

If anyone wants to try the game out, it is free to play, so just go to the website, or, if you like, follow This Link to sign up for an account. That's my referral link to the game. Maybe we can play together some time, because the game is fantastic.

League of Legends, by Riot Games. Check it out!

Also, i apologise for the late post, i was doing some hard manual labor, like the manly man that i clearly am.
