I picked up a game called Dungeons of Dredmor from steam, because i heard its good, and I'm a fan of Rogue-like dungeon crawlers. So i booted it up to see what's what. I decided to actually do the tutorial for once, very un-manly i know, reading instructions, but its a rogue-like, and they tend to hurt. A lot. Much like this might (see screenshot below)
One of the first things i noticed about the game was its sense of humor. I noticed one instance where it was explaining resistances, and it says that fire resistance is particularly useful for witches, and that i should think about getting it in case I'm ever around a witch or other flammable substance. This was literally what it said in the tool tip. A very good sign. The controls are nice and simple, and it has selectable difficulty, which is always nice. Since I'm so awesome, I went right to 'Going Rogue, because losing is fun' and promptly got disemboweled by a very friendly group of Diggles. If you are a sadist there are ways of increasing the difficulty even more, such as a Perma-Death mode. You'll definitely need some 'Wizard Juices' as the game puts it, or Potions, or at Least some moldy Cheese or Steak.
As in any dungeon crawler, there is a lot of loot and stats to memorize and collect to help you to not die. At one point i found Three 'Uberchests' in one small area, which was cool because it got me searching the entire level for the way to open them.
The Game itself tells you that Winning is not the point, getting as far as you can and getting further in time is the point, and i kind of like that, it makes you learn from your mistakes and allows you to find skill combinations that work. As far as i can tell, the dungeons are randomly generated, which adds to the re-playability immensely.
If you go idle for a little while, like when i was writing this guide, your character gets a handheld console out and plays it while he waits, which is a cool little touch. The combat log can be hilarious too, with what i presume to be random area names, like 'The Rhombus Dungeon of Death' and 'The Triangle of Trousers'. And when i examined a patch of dirt it apparently looked at me, Dirtily.
Some of the buff pictures are really quite amusing too, like Invisibility, where your character is pictured as a Ninja. Also, apparently its a very good idea to upgrade equipment, or i might be stuck with Wooden, or even Spaghetti weaponry. That's a scary thought, especially when everything that moves seems to want to tear out my innards and decorate their hovel with them.
Between reducing enemies to piles of Fluid and Flatulence, and chuckling at this games amazing sense of humor, i managed to upgrade a few of my weapons and then die horribly. Ah well, i can be sure that this game is one that i will spend hours on indeed. The System reminds me a little of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, in that your enemies don't act until you do, adding a nice level of strategy.
The graphics style is charming and retro, and aids the humor somewhat. Literally the only bad thing i can think about the game is that items don't show up on your character. No funky Fedora for me *sadface*
And son of a bitch! this 'Lil Batty' (i kid you not) just called me a 'Troll-Whoring Sheep-Buggerer!' How did this game know I'm Welsh? Crafty bastards.
There are 36 different skills to choose from at character creation, which is pretty awesome, as they change the way you play completely. They range from the usual, various weapon proficiencies, schools of magic and crafting too, and then there's archeology, which says that it gives you a Fedora and it makes you daring and roguish, which cant be bad. All in all, its a very nicely done and well rounded Indie title, made by Gaslamp Games, available on Steam now for around 7 Dollars, or £3.49. Go check it out, its definitely worth buying.
Also, this was quite terrifying. An example of what is known as a Monster Zoo. Dear God.

Terraria : Intro
Hey all.
Terraria is a Game that you have all probably heard of at some point. It's been called a 2-D Minecraft. both in respect of how it plays and how its exploded in success and fame. There's a reason for the Hype, as Terraria is so very well made and perhaps the most addictive thing since Minecraft. or Heroin.
Terraria is a game where you explore, fight monsters, and build to your hearts content. and trust me, there is a lot to do in this game. Oh, and it has Multiplayer too, which is cool. Now, at face value, Terraria could appear to some as Childish, simplistic and boring. But i find that this is really one of those games where you have to play it to truly understand how good it is. The game is packed with Features and things to do and explore, Wanna dig down in the Earth and find your fame and fortune? sure why not, and what you'll discover on the way are countless caverns, with treasure and dangers untold. perhaps you'll find a Heart Container in the deeps, and that will help you deal with the difficulty and combat in the game (which is very good, for a 2-D side-scrolling, Platforming Build-and-Kill-o-Rama) or perhaps you'll find a Bomb or some Dynamite, and then, if you have room in your fortress of power, a Demolitionist will move in to sell you more explosives. Wanna Blast your way into the earth for the hell of it? Why the hell not? And Speaking of Hell, maybe you'll reach it, and then cry like a little baby when you get decimated by the monsters there.
This is one of those games where you kinda have to find your own way to play, whether it be exploring the Skies or the ground (both of which have equal benefits) or collecting enough stone and whatnot to build a castle the keep monsters out.
Ill keep most of the details a mystery for now, as I've just gone and made a New Character, and a New World for him to dick around in and for me to relay my various misdoings and stuff.
So, you can expect various Screenshots and stories next week, and i hope you look forward to it as much as i do :D
You can pick up Terraria for around 10 Dollars or £5.99 on Steam, and i do recommend it. Updates are more or less on a weekly or monthly basis, and they are generally huge and very, very well done. Support Re-Logic, the developers, as much as possible! you won't regret doing so.
Till Next Time,
Have Fun
League of Legends : Intro
Hey all, so recently I've started to play a Free-to-Play Game called League of legends. Its gameplay is based on DotA from Warcraft 3, and while I've never played DotA before, i instantly liked this game. There are nearly 80 different characters to choose from, and each is unique and different to play. Basically, you start off at your teams base (Nexus) and there are a few paths to the enemy Nexus, guarded by turrets. Your objective is to get to the enemy Nexus and destroy it, whilst defending your own Nexus from the enemy team who is attempting to do the same thing. Teams consist of either 5 or 3 Champions on either side (a Champion being a Player Character) and a host of Minions (Little monsters) that spawn constantly from each base. These minions will follow set paths (Lanes) that take them along the path of the turrets and into the enemy base, and help you by, well, they're actually more useful as meat shields than anything, but they are still useful.
And then there's 'The Jungle'. The Jungle is pretty much anywhere on the map that is not a lane or a base. Neutral monsters spawn in little camps around the Jungle, denoted by Skulls on the Minimap. These creatures will yield EXP and Gold when they're killed, much like Minions and Champions, but can also grant your character temporary buffs to tip the scales in their favour.
So, the objective is simple. Gank the enemy team more than they gank you (Because re-spawn times in this game are harsh, and knocking an enemy out for 60 seconds is vital in pushing into the enemies base. But what i love about this game is how versatile the characters can be, there are many different 'Builds' to each character, and it all depends on what items you decide to buy in game, So you can stack different stats like Health and Mana Regeneration etc. to make your character your own. Outside of combat, there's a Store (Where, through Micro-Transactions, you can purchase extra Characters, Skins, and Boosts for your character, and Runes, which you can use to give yourself a starting Edge and add that personal touch to your character. There are also Masteries, which are essentially Talent Trees, which you can again use to set yourself apart from the flock.
Now, i regularly play LoL as a variety of different characters, in case you're interested:
Kayle, The Judicator - I love me some angels, and her Battleborn Skin makes her look like a Valkyrie. She's a really good support character
Ezreal, The Prodigal Explorer - The Frosted Skin looks cool, and he is really fun to play. All of his attacks have to manually aimed, which means he needs Skill to play well, and that to me is really cool/
Ashe, The Frost Archer - I love Ice and Archers, so this ones a Given, plus she too has an awesome Nordic Skin <3
Leona, The Radiant Dawn - Just bought her today, shes a new character, but looks awesome and is very fun, also she has a Valkyrie skin too, and that's just cool
Malphite, Shard of the Monolith - Again, looks cool and is VERY fun to play as, and he's a great PvP Character
Tristana, The Megling Gunner - I haven't played her, but I've heard shes good fun. I got her free from Facebook. Just follow them on Facebook, and you get her and a Skin for her.
Veigar, The Tiny Master of Evil - So much fun to play as, and Kick ass to boot. Also you can get a Gandalf Skin for him, what's not to love?
My main 3 Characters at the moment are Ezreal, Malphite and Leona, and im having alot of fun with the game as a whole. the only drawbacks for me at the moment are a lack of varied maps and the fact that Log in times can sometimes be a bit unreasonable. But hey, theyre adding some new servers soon, and probably more maps, because as i understand its a fairly new game (at least to the EU).
So, more news as and when i get it, and some playthrough talk and other stuff to come.
If anyone wants to try the game out, it is free to play, so just go to the website, or, if you like, follow This Link to sign up for an account. That's my referral link to the game. Maybe we can play together some time, because the game is fantastic.

Also, i apologise for the late post, i was doing some hard manual labor, like the manly man that i clearly am.

Xbox.com E3 Website Leaks New HALO Details
Kotaku, The Gamer's Guide published an article (http://kotaku.com/5808887/microsofts-e3-2011-website-outs-halo-4-and-more) That shows a screenshot of Microsoft's E3 Coverage Website accidentally leaking a Page that shows Halo 4 and a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved. Shocked? No, didn't think so. The HALO series makes WAY too much money for Microsoft to not make more. Blatent Lies when they said that Reach would be their final Halo, but still, it should be promising with 343 Industries at the Helm. Head on over there to read more.

Generic News Post!
So, i haven't been posting as much as i'd like to, mostly due to laziness, but also due to lack of content. i really don't want to make this a Blog only about Minecraft, but Terraria for me has become a bit stale, i mean iv'e collected every item and NPC, and experienced everything the game has to offer thus far, of course there are always patches, and who knows, i may cover them in the future.
And then there's World of Warcraft.
I have UN-subbed from WoW for now, because of lack of interesting content and the way the game has been developing thus far. Again, this may change with patches.
Now, i definitely plan to keep the reviews and first impressions promises, those particularly are a must for me, and i hope to keep you guys up to date with Minecraft, as I've just joined a friends private Multi-player server, and we're having a lot of fun with that, indeed, thats where most of my time has been spent thus far.
So, another tentative schedule is in order i think :D
